Dangote Petroleum Refinery has commenced nationwide sales of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS) at a pump price of ₦739 per litre across all MRS Oil Nigeria Plc filling stations, marking a major step toward easing fuel costs and stabilising Nigeria’s downstream petroleum market.

With more than 2,000 MRS stations spread across the country, the refinery said the new pricing will be uniformly implemented nationwide to ensure consumers benefit directly from the reduction. It described the move as part of its broader commitment to making fuel more affordable while supporting national economic recovery.

In a statement, the refinery praised marketers that have already adopted the new pricing and urged others to follow suit. “We commend MRS and other marketers who have demonstrated patriotism by reflecting the reduced price at the pump. We call on others to join this effort as a show of support for Nigeria’s economic recovery,” the statement said.

Fuel scarcity and price hikes have traditionally characterised the festive season. However, Dangote Refinery said its intervention has altered that trend by driving down prices at a time when Nigerians typically face increased pressure. The refinery noted that the move is backed by a guaranteed daily supply of 50 million litres, significantly improving fuel availability during the holiday period.

By refining petroleum products locally at scale, the refinery said it is reducing Nigeria’s reliance on volatile international markets, conserving foreign exchange, stabilising the naira, and strengthening national energy security. The sustained price cut and steady supply are also providing relief to households, businesses, and transport operators nationwide.

The refinery issued a warning against attempts by unscrupulous operators to frustrate the price reduction by creating artificial scarcity. It called on regulatory authorities to take firm action against such practices.

“Any attempt to create artificial scarcity or manipulate supply to frustrate recent price reductions is unpatriotic and unacceptable. We urge regulatory authorities to remain vigilant and take firm action against such practices, especially during this critical festive period,” the statement added.

Consumers were also advised to avoid purchasing fuel at inflated prices when cheaper alternatives are available.

According to the refinery, “We encourage Nigerians to avoid buying PMS at excessively high prices when they can access locally refined fuel at ₦739 per litre from over 2,000 MRS stations nationwide. Report any MRS station selling above ₦739 per litre by calling 0800 123 5264.”

Dangote Refinery further called on other fuel marketers to patronise its products to ensure wider price relief across the country. “We also call on other petrol station operators to patronize our products so that the benefits of this price reduction can be passed on to Nigerians across all outlets, ensuring broad-based relief and a more stable downstream market.”

Reaffirming its long-term commitment, the refinery said its operations are driven by national interest rather than short-term market pressures. “Our objective remains clear: to ensure consistent supply of high-quality petroleum products at affordable prices for Nigerians, while supporting economic stability and reducing dependence on imports,” the statement concluded.
