- A viral video showing a woman praying for President Bola Tinubu and placing curses on his critics after receiving a Ramadan package linked to him has sparked widespread reactions on social media.

A woman has stirred reactions online after offering prayers for Bola Ahmed Tinubu while also placing curses on people who criticize the Nigerian president.
In a video that has gone viral on social media, the woman expressed gratitude after receiving a Ramadan package reportedly linked to the president. She was seen carrying a carton on her head with Tinubu’s image boldly printed on it.
VerseNews reports that while praying for the president’s success, the woman declared that anyone wishing against his progress would face misfortune.
“We have received it. Asiwaju, everything you are hoping for, you will achieve it. Anybody who doesn’t want Asiwaju to reach his height will kpai untimely,” she said in Yoruba.
The video quickly gained traction online, triggering mixed reactions from Nigerians across different social media platforms.
Some users criticised the display, arguing that political support in exchange for welfare packages reflects deeper issues of poverty and political patronage.
One user, identified as @General_Somto, reacted by saying the gesture shows why politicians continue to repeat the same tactics of distributing food items to win support.
Another user, @dooolapo, argued that situations like this fuel debates about whether voters make objective political decisions.

Meanwhile, others questioned whether the woman’s reaction reflected genuine political support or survival-driven gratitude amid economic hardship.
VerseNews reports that the video has also reignited conversations about the role of “stomach infrastructure” in Nigerian politics, where food distributions and welfare items are sometimes linked to political loyalty.
Some commentators also raised concerns about the timing and branding of such distributions, suggesting that humanitarian gestures can easily blur into political campaigning when they carry the identity or slogans of political figures.
