Gov’ship Polls: 5.1 million Voters Elect Imo, Bayelsa, Kogi Governors Today

Today, voters in Bayelsa, Imo, and Kogi states are set to elect new governors after months of campaigns.

According to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), 5,169,692 voters out of the 5,409,438 registered voters in these states have collected their permanent voter cards.

In Bayelsa, 1,056,862 are registered, with 1,017,613 collecting their PVCs.

In Imo, out of 2,419,922 registered voters, 2,318,919 collected their PVCs, leaving 101,003 uncollected.

Kogi State, with 1,932,654 registered voters, has 1,833,160 who collected their PVCs, while 99,494 remain uncollected.

VerseNews reports that the incumbent governors, Douye Diri and Hope Uzodimma, seek re-election in Bayelsa and Imo, respectively.

In Kogi, 18 candidates vie to succeed Governor Yahaya Bello.

Violence incidents have been reported, prompting assurances from security agencies regarding voter safety.
