- Former Lagos State Deputy Governor, Princess Adejoke Orelope-Adefulire, is mourning the death of her only son, Dr Oluwafemi Olawale Adefulire, who died in Dubai after a surgical procedure.

Former Lagos State Deputy Governor, Princess Adejoke Orelope-Adefulire, has lost her only son, Dr Oluwafemi Olawale Adefulire.
According to family sources, Olawale died in the early hours of Wednesday in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, after undergoing a surgical procedure. He was said to be based in the United Kingdom and is survived by his wife and children.
A family source described his death as a devastating blow to the family and the wider political community in Lagos.
Reacting to the tragedy on Thursday, the All Progressives Congress Publicity Secretary in Lagos State, Seye Oladejo, expressed shock and deep sadness over the loss, noting that the party had been thrown into mourning.

“It’s sadly true, the kind of tragedy every parent dreads. The APC is heartbroken. Princess Adejoke Orelope-Adefulire is an exceptionally good person, and the entire party structure has been thrown into mourning by this huge tragedy. May his precious soul rest in peace,” Oladejo said.

Princess Orelope-Adefulire served as Deputy Governor of Lagos State from 2011 to 2015 under former Governor Babatunde Fashola. She currently serves as the Senior Special Assistant to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on Sustainable Development Goals, a role she previously held under former President Muhammadu Buhari before her reappointment in September 2023.
A seasoned administrator and social worker, the 65-year-old has spent over two decades in public service, including eight years as Lagos State Commissioner for Women Affairs and Poverty Alleviation.
She is also a prominent political figure in Lagos politics, serving as the APC Political Apex Leader of the Alimosho Federal Constituency and a member of the Lagos State Governor’s Advisory Council.
As of press time, the family had yet to announce burial arrangements.
