- Newly appointed Minister of Defence, General Christopher Musa (rtd), formally resumed duties at the Ministry of Defence in Abuja, days after his nomination by President Bola Tinubu and confirmation by the Senate.

The newly appointed Minister of Defence and immediate past Chief of Defence Staff, General Christopher Musa (rtd), on Friday assumed office at the Ministry of Defence, Ship House, Abuja.
General Musa was appointed on Tuesday by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, following the resignation of former minister Muhammed Badaru, and was confirmed by the Senate on Thursday.

His appointment has been widely welcomed, with stakeholders expressing confidence that his experience and leadership record as defence chief between 2023 and 2025 will further strengthen national defence operations.

Upon arrival at the ministry on Friday morning, the new minister inspected the quarter guard in line with military tradition and exchanged pleasantries with service chiefs and senior officials.
As at press time, General Musa was in a closed-door meeting with the service chiefs and directors of the ministry to begin his briefing and operational transition.
