A delegation of Igbo spiritual leaders led by Chief Mrs. Oliaku Chika Ibeneme has paid a high-profile visit to the detained leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Nnamdi Kanu, at the Sokoto Correctional Centre.

Chief Mrs. Ibeneme, revered as Nne Mmanwu Igbo Niine (Mother of All Igbo Masquerades) and a former Commissioner for Works and Housing in Anambra State, undertook the visit on behalf of Ndi Nne Mụọ Ala-Igbo nile—the titled spiritual mothers of Igboland.

According to a statement released after the visit, the delegation expressed unwavering solidarity and maternal support for Kanu, describing him as a “cherished son” of the Igbo nation. The spiritual leader reportedly offered prayers, invoked ancestral blessings, and presented symbolic gifts during the visit.

The group said the mission represents the collective spiritual and ancestral guardianship of the Igbo people, both living and departed, emphasizing their continued commitment to seeking justice and equity.

The delegation further disclosed plans to embark on a broader advocacy mission across Nigeria. This, they said, will involve engaging prominent traditional rulers, paramount leaders, and spiritual authorities in a bid to foster dialogue and mobilize support for Kanu’s unconditional release.

They called on all sons and daughters of Ala-Igbo, as well as people of conscience nationwide, to unite in prayers and peaceful advocacy efforts aimed at securing Kanu’s freedom and restoring harmony in the land.
