Rivers Tribunal Upholds Fubara’s Victory, Dismisses APC, LP’s Petitions

The Rivers State Governorship Election Petitions Tribunal in Abuja has dismissed a petition filed by Beatrice Itubo, the governorship candidate of the Labour Party (LP) in Rivers State, challenging the victory of Governor Simnalayi Fubara of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

Following Fubara’s declaration as the winner of the March 18 governorship election by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), the LP and the All Progressives Congress (APC) filed petitions to challenge his election.

VerseNews reports that the tribunal dismissed the petition on Monday, stating that it lacked merit and failed to substantiate the allegations made by the petitioner.

Governor Fubara had secured the governorship win with 302,614 votes.
