An Ikeja High Court has fixed April 16 to deliver its ruling in a suit filed by Nigerian pastor, Chris Okafor, against Nollywood actress Doris Ogala, social media influencer VeryDarkMan (Martins Otse), and public commentator Kelvin Emmanuel.

The suit, marked ID/14399GCMW/2026, was heard on Wednesday before Justice Akintunde Savage.

Counsel to the claimant, Ife Ajayi, told the court that all defendants had been properly served, referencing proof of service issued by the court’s Sheriff. He subsequently sought an extension of time to regularise certain preliminary processes.

However, counsel to the first defendant, Nzeakor Atulomah, raised a preliminary objection, arguing that the writ of summons failed to comply with Section 97 of the Sheriff and Civil Process Act. He maintained that the alleged defect was fundamental and urged the court to strike out the suit.

Atulomah further argued that the first defendant resides outside Lagos, noting that the claimant himself indicated that all defendants are based in Abuja. He contended that serving court processes outside jurisdiction without proper compliance rendered the suit incompetent.

In response, Ajayi relied on a counter-affidavit dated February 10 and sought leave to amend the processes, insisting that the filing complied with legal requirements.

After hearing arguments from both parties, Justice Savage adjourned the matter to April 16 to rule on the preliminary objections.

Earlier, the court had granted leave for the preliminary objection to be served electronically and had also issued an interim order restraining the defendants from making further references to Okafor, his ministry, or related materials pending the determination of the suit.

The order specifically barred the publication or dissemination of alleged private content, including messages, images, and videos linked to the claimant, as well as any attempt to mention his name or that of his church, Grace Nation International (also known as Liberation City).
