AAC Writes Tinubu, Demands Aso Rock, Food and Logistics for 5,000 Supporters at Sowore’s Inauguration

- The AAC has requested permission to inaugurate Sowore’s presidential campaign council at Aso Rock, asking the Presidency to provide refreshments and logistics for 5,000 participants.

The African Action Congress (AAC) has written to President Bola Tinubu seeking approval to use the Presidential Villa in Abuja for the inauguration of its Presidential Campaign Council ahead of the 2027 elections.
The party also requested food, drinks and logistical support for 5,000 participants expected to attend the proposed ceremony, including supporters travelling from within Nigeria and abroad.
In a letter dated October 21, 2026, the AAC proposed November 11, 2026, for the inauguration of the council supporting its presidential candidate, Omoyele Sowore.
The letter, signed by National Secretary Oshiokhue Philip Ikpeminoghena, presented the request as a test of political inclusiveness and equal access to public institutions.
“On behalf of the African Action Congress (AAC), I respectfully write to request approval to hold the inauguration ceremony of our Presidential Campaign Council on the 11th of November 2026 at the Presidential Villa, Aso Rock, Abuja, in preparation for the 2027 general elections,” the letter read.
Explaining its request for refreshments and logistics, the opposition party cited arrangements it said had reportedly been extended to the ruling All Progressives Congress for a similar engagement.
“In the spirit of multiparty democracy, political inclusiveness, and equal treatment of political parties, we also request the provision of food, drinks, and other logistical support for participants at the event, consistent with the arrangements reportedly extended to the All Progressives Congress (APC) for a similar political engagement,” it stated.
The AAC argued that political affiliation should not determine access to public institutions, saying approval would demonstrate the Presidency’s commitment to treating parties fairly.
“We believe that granting this request would demonstrate the Presidency’s commitment to fairness, equal access, and the principle that public institutions must serve all Nigerians without partisan discrimination,” the party added.
It also asked the President to communicate the procedures and conditions governing approval for the proposed event.
The letter did not include a response from the Presidency or confirmation that the venue and requested support had been approved.
