Babangida’s Son, Muhammed Breaks Silence on Rejecting Tinubu’s Appointment
Muhammed Babangida denies rejecting President Tinubu’s appointment as Chairman of the Bank of Agriculture, calls reports false and reaffirms his acceptance of the role.

Muhammed Babangida, son of former military president Ibrahim Babangida, has broken his silence over reports that he rejected his recent appointment as Chairman of the Bank of Agriculture (BOA), declaring the claims false and misleading.
In a press statement issued on Monday, Babangida affirmed that he has gratefully accepted the appointment and expressed his deep appreciation to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for the confidence reposed in him.

“We wish to clarify that Muhammed gratefully accepts the appointment as Chairman of the Bank of Agriculture, as announced by the federal government, and extends his sincere appreciation to President Tinubu for the trust and confidence bestowed upon him,” the statement read.
He described the earlier media reports suggesting he had turned down the appointment as malicious attempts to mislead the public and tarnish the image of the Tinubu administration.
The statement further warned that individuals behind the fake reports would be identified and held accountable, stressing a strong commitment to transparency and unity.

“We also want to assure the public that those spreading these falsehoods will be thoroughly investigated and brought to justice. We remain committed to transparency, accountability, and fostering unity within our nation,” it added.
Babangida called on Nigerians to be vigilant, urging the public to verify information from credible sources and avoid falling victim to fake news.

His appointment is one of several strategic decisions made by President Tinubu to strengthen leadership across key federal institutions and drive national development.
