The Federal Government of Nigeria has announced Thursday, March 19, and Friday, March 20, 2026, as public holidays in celebration of Eid-el-Fitr, which marks the end of the holy month of Ramadan.

The decision aligns with the expected Eid celebrations around March 20, although the exact date is traditionally determined by the sighting of the moon.

VerseNews reports that the Minister of Interior, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, approved the declaration on behalf of the Federal Government, extending congratulations to Muslim faithful for successfully completing the Ramadan fast.
