‘I Will Name Them If…”: Sunday Igboho Threatens to Expose Nigerian Politicians Behind Oyo Schoolchildren Abduction

- Yoruba Nation activist Sunday Igboho has alleged that politicians are sponsoring kidnappers operating in parts of Oyo State, threatening to reveal their identities while accusing authorities of preventing him from helping to rescue abducted schoolchildren.

Yoruba Nation activist, Sunday Adeyemo, popularly known as Sunday Igboho, has threatened to expose politicians he claims are behind the abduction of students in Oriire Local Government Area of Oyo State.
Igboho made the remarks while addressing newly elected executives of the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS), led by Akinteye Bàbàtunde, at his residence in the Soka area of Ibadan.
In a video that has since gone viral, the activist claimed he had volunteered to help rescue the abducted students but was allegedly prevented from doing so by the Oyo State Government.
He also denied reports suggesting he demanded money from the government to participate in rescue efforts.
“If I am permitted to burst into the hideouts, they will flee. They are neither gnomes nor mannequins; they are humans, so that they could be dislodged. I know the politicians behind them, and if they do not stop perpetrating their evil acts, I will mention them all. I know them. The politicians behind them are the ones giving them ammunition and money.”
Igboho further alleged that some political actors were deliberately working to destabilise the country and undermine President Bola Tinubu’s administration.
“The same thing they did to Jonathan is what they are doing to Tinubu. They want to make the country ungovernable for him. They even have fake news propaganda to scare the masses and divert supporters away from the President.”
According to him, state authorities informed him that the kidnappers had threatened to kill the victims if he attempted any independent rescue operation.
“Later, they informed me that the kidnappers said if I try to force myself to come rescue the children, they will kill them all.”
The activist maintained that his security outfit, Iru Ekun Security Network, was capable of flushing criminals out of forests across the South-West if granted the necessary approval.
“If they are serious about rescuing the victims, they should tell my boys and me to chase them out of the forests in our regions and see if those people will remain there even with their bombs and sophisticated weapons.”
Igboho also revealed that although he had received approval from the Federal Government to operate the security network, he claimed the Oyo State Government had restricted its activities.
“After I arranged Iru Ekun security network, the Federal Government permitted me, but the state government said no security must take a step behind them.”
The comments come amid growing concerns over insecurity in Oyo State following the abduction of dozens of pupils and teachers during attacks on three schools in Oriire Local Government Area.
The schools affected included Baptist Nursery and Primary School, Yawota; Community Grammar School, Esiele; and L.A. Primary School.

The incident sparked widespread outrage after one of the abducted teachers, Michael Oyedokun, was reportedly killed while in captivity.
Security agencies have continued efforts to rescue the remaining victims, while authorities have reportedly intensified surveillance around forest areas and possible escape routes used by the attackers.
Igboho’s latest claims have further fueled public debate over insecurity, the role of local security outfits, and allegations of political sponsorship of criminal activities in parts of the country.
