BREAKING: INEC Shifts Election Date In Enugu

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has announced another date for the senatorial election in Enugu East of Enugu State.

VerseNews reports that the development was announced the Enugu State Labour Party Chairman, Hon, Casmir Agbo after the murder the party’s Senatorial candidate Oyibo Chukwu.

Agbo said the date was shifted after writing to INEC Abuja through the National Headquarters in line with Section 33 and 34.

According to the response from INEC, the election which was scheduled to hold on Saturday 25 February, will now hold from February 25 to March 11, 2023.

“INEC advised us and we met and wrote to INEC Abuja through the National Headquarters in line with Section 33 and 34. The party has 14 days to nominate another candidate for substitution.

“In line with the Electoral Act, we have done what we ought to do and yesterday INEC cancelled the election. We will hold our primary election in the next 14 days,” Agbo said.
