The Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) has launched a new digital portal for the CERPAC application process, allowing foreigners to apply, upload documents, and pay fees online.

The Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) has launched a new digital portal for the CERPAC application process, allowing foreigners to apply, upload documents, and pay fees online.
All physical applications will end by July 31, 2025, with full transition to the online system starting August 1, 2025.
The Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) has launched a new digital platform for the Comprehensive Expatriate Residence Permit and Aliens Card (CERPAC), streamlining the application and payment process for foreigners residing in Nigeria.

According to an official press release signed by the NIS Public Relations Officer, ACI Akinbobola, the platform — https://cerpac.immigration.gov.ng — will fully replace the physical application process beginning August 1, 2025. All CERPAC applications and payments must henceforth be completed exclusively online.
“The new process is designed to enhance transparency, efficiency, and the overall user experience,” the statement noted.
Deadline for Manual Submissions
Applicants who have already paid for their CERPAC forms but have not yet submitted them are advised to do so on or before July 31, 2025, to avoid losing their application status and payment. Any forms not submitted by the deadline will be considered void.
Organizations and individuals assuming immigration responsibility for expatriates are also urged to complete submissions before the cutoff date to prevent disruption.

Who Is Eligible for CERPAC?
CERPAC is required for foreigners intending to reside in Nigeria for one year or more, including those entering with Temporary or Permanent Resident Visas (TRV/PRV). Eligible categories include:
- Business Owners – Foreigners who own or manage businesses in Nigeria
- Employees – Foreigners employed by Nigerian companies
- Students – Foreign nationals studying in Nigerian institutions
- Dependents – Family members of expatriates residing legally in Nigeria
- Retirees – Individuals aged 65 and above who wish to live in Nigeria after retirement
The CERPAC not only confirms legal residence but also serves as a valid identification document and ensures compliance with Nigerian immigration laws.
