The Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL) has slashed its petrol price for the third time in December 2025, bringing the cost down to N835 per litre in Abuja, according to a report by DAILY POST.

This represents an N80 reduction from the previous price of N915 per litre.

The move follows earlier adjustments by other fuel marketers such as MRS, BOVAS, and AA Rano, who reviewed pump prices to between N739 and N865 per litre in the nation’s capital.

Dangote Refinery and various depot owners had earlier reduced their ex-depot prices to between N699 and N800 per litre, prompting a competitive adjustment across the industry.

This marks NNPCL’s third price reduction this month, following cuts on December 4 and December 10, 2025.

Aliko Dangote, President of the Dangote Group, confirmed that the N739 per litre price would be strictly enforced from Tuesday, beginning with MRS Oil and Gas filling stations.

He also assured Nigerians of a consistent supply of petroleum products throughout the yuletide season, promising no shortages typically associated with this period.

Industry observers have described the ongoing price adjustments and competition between Dangote Refinery and NNPCL as positive for the oil sector and beneficial to consumers, providing relief amid fluctuating fuel costs.
