The delegation is led by Vice President Kashim Shettima and supported by the Chief of Staff to the President, Femi Gbajabiamila. They touched down in the United Kingdom on Monday morning. President Tinubu, shortly after announcing Buhari’s passing, directed Vice President Shettima to personally lead the mission to London. He also ordered national flags across Nigeria to fly at half-staff in mourning and solidarity.

The late Muhammadu Buhari, who ruled as Nigeria’s Head of State from 1984 to 1985 and later served as democratically elected President from 2015 to 2023, was widely regarded as a symbol of discipline, patriotism, and integrity.

Arrangements are underway for the return of his remains to Nigeria, where official mourning rites and state honours will be observed.
