FCT Minister Nyesom Wike has expanded his controversial land allocations in Abuja—after awarding vast plots to his sons – to now include his father, siblings, cousins, and close associates.

Details have emerged revealing that Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has extended the controversial allocation of prime Abuja lands to include his father, siblings, cousins, nephews, and close associates – just weeks after reports surfaced that he had awarded multi-billion-naira land parcels to his sons.

Despite heavy public criticism following revelations that one son received 2,082 hectares via JOAQ Farms and Estates Limited and another got 1,740 hectares, Wike reportedly proceeded with additional disbursements.

Following the backlash, Wike is said to have summoned senior officials at the Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA), where he expressed anger over media coverage and announced plans to expand the list of land beneficiaries.

“The minister said he was pissed that the media was making an issue of his decision to allocate lands to his children,” an official who attended the meeting revealed. “So he decided to expand his inventory of beneficiaries.”

At the meeting, held in early July, Wike reportedly handed over a list of 38 individuals—including childhood friends and extended family—for immediate land approval. What some officials initially assumed was a joke became reality when Wike began signing off on the land allocations within days.

On July 16, 2025, Wike approved 33 new allocations, including one for his 90-year-old father, Joshua Nlemanya Wike, who was granted 1,042 square metres in Guzape II, valued at over ₦400 million (file number 62783).

Other relatives on the list include cousins Believe and Primise Wike, and nephews Victor and Henry Wike. All 33 new beneficiaries reportedly hail from Wike’s native Rivers State. The list also included eight family members of longtime political ally James Hunwo.

These allocations came after six other Wike family members had earlier been granted parcels in Guzape II on April 22, 2025. These include Vincent Ejike Wike, Chidi Sam Wike, Chituru Wike, Christian Ibebulachi Wike, Collins Ngeme Wike, and Emmanuel Okanwene Wike—believed to be the minister’s siblings.

Their land sizes ranged from 2,158 to 2,813 square metres, with file numbers between RV62586 and RV62605.

According to multiple FCTA officials, Wike has frequently sidestepped legal procedures, issuing verbal directives that allowed his relatives to obtain land without paying statutory fees.

“He rules this place like someone who does not believe in accountability,” said a senior civil servant. “He just doesn’t see himself being asked to render accounts someday.”

Officials also allege that Wike often boasts about his role in President Bola Tinubu’s emergence in the 2023 elections, particularly his influence in Rivers State, where Tinubu secured a controversial win despite low popularity.

“He keeps reminding us of how he made heavy investment to help the president in 2023,” an aide disclosed. “He even said the president can’t do anything to him, and no judge in 2025 Nigeria would dare convict him of any stupid corruption.”

Wike is widely believed to have been instrumental in delivering Rivers State to Tinubu in the disputed 2023 polls—an outcome many observers insist was manipulated in favour of the ruling party.
