Fubara Vows to Deliver Rivers for Tinubu in 2027 After Joining APC

- Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara has pledged to secure the state for President Bola Tinubu in the 2027 election after formally receiving his APC membership card.

Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, has declared that he will deliver the state for President Bola Tinubu in the 2027 general election following his defection to the All Progressives Congress.
Fubara made the declaration on Friday at the Government House in Port Harcourt after receiving his APC membership card from the party’s state chairman, Tony Okocha. He also pledged to take responsibility for the welfare and needs of the party in Rivers State.
The governor said that as the leader of the APC in the state, he would ensure the ruling party remained active and well-organised, including making sure members of the state executive were properly supported.
Fubara formally dumped the Peoples Democratic Party earlier in the week, days after 17 members of the Rivers State House of Assembly defected to the APC. He said his leadership of the party would make it easier to mobilise support for Tinubu’s reelection.
Explaining his decision to join the APC, Fubara said the move was taken in the interest of Rivers State’s progress and development. He described his defection as a reciprocation of Tinubu’s support in ensuring the stability of his administration.
“We can’t be doing our own here and going on a different course from the Federal Government, the ruling party,” Fubara said. “There is every reason to support Mr President.”

“So, I took this decision as my own return of favour—clearing the bush to ensure that his reelection in 2027 will be easy and smooth in this state. Now that we are all in one party, the job is easy to continue what we have promised Mr President,” he added.
The governor further pledged to strengthen the APC in Rivers State, saying that all party needs would now fall under his responsibility.

At the flag-off of the construction of the By-pass to Port Harcourt International Airport and Toll Gate Road, Fubara described himself as the “001” of the APC in Rivers State, signalling his leadership position within the party.
“We’re going to do everything to make sure that the 2027 election for the president will be a smooth ride in Rivers State,” he said.
Speaking at the event, the Minister of Aviation, Festus Keyamo, praised Fubara’s decision to join the APC, describing it as a major political gain for the ruling party. He added that the governor’s defection meant the APC now controlled all six states in the South-South region, referring to Fubara as “an elephant and the latest catch.”
