- RCCG General Overseer, Pastor Enoch Adeboye, says the simple three-word prayer “God bless me” is the greatest prayer anyone can offer, sharing biblical insight and a personal experience to illustrate its power.

The General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), Pastor Enoch Adeboye, has declared that the three-word prayer, “God bless me,” is the most important prayer anyone can pray.
Pastor Adeboye made this declaration on Saturday, December 13, during the church’s Holy Ghost Congress, which concluded on Sunday, December 14, with a thanksgiving service.
According to Church Times Nigeria, the revered cleric drew lessons from the biblical account of Isaac blessing his sons, Jacob and Esau, to emphasize the enduring power of a father’s blessing.
He noted that although Esau received what appeared to be the lesser blessing, he still became exceedingly prosperous, to the extent that he later returned with 400 bodyguards to meet his brother Jacob.
“If the one who got the least blessing from his father was that blessed, how much more Jacob, who was the first person his father blessed,” Adeboye said.
He stressed that a father’s blessing is irreversible and assured members of the congregation that, as their spiritual father, he was blessing them.
The Power of “God Bless You”
The RCCG leader also shared a personal testimony to illustrate the power embedded in the simple phrase “God bless you.”
“The biggest prayer I can pray for anyone is God bless you,” he said, recounting an experience from one of his early morning prayer walks.
Adeboye explained that during his prayer walks, he often carries only a pen and notebook, saying, “I don’t want to be controlled by time.”

He narrated how he encountered a woman and her child sitting by the roadside, hoping for alms.
“She thought Daddy had come and was hoping I would give her some money. All I could say was, ‘God bless you.’ I had nothing on me. She said amen,” he recalled.

According to him, shortly after leaving the woman, a man approached him at the gate and presented an envelope containing his firstfruit offering.
“When I later checked the envelope, I discovered it contained many thousands of naira,” Adeboye said.
He added that God instructed him to give the money to the woman, explaining, “God told me your prayer for that woman is already answered.”
Pastor Adeboye said he returned to meet the woman and handed over the envelope.
“The woman took the envelope and looked at it. What she saw in that envelope, she knew she wouldn’t beg again. She screamed and was weeping, shouting ‘Jesu oooo,’ meaning ‘Oh Jesus.’ I too was saying, ‘Oh Jesus.’ For the first time, I saw the power in ‘God bless you,’” he stated.
He concluded by urging Christians to always say amen whenever they hear the words “God bless you,” reiterating that no prayer is greater than the simple three-word request.
