A Nigerian man identified as Somto has shared a rather peculiar experience detailing the unfortunate turn of events that led to him losing his job shortly after he declined his boss’s attempt to taste his food.

VerseNews gathered that in a post shared on X (formerly Twitter), the media user, currently employed at another establishment, recounted a specific incident during his tenure at his previous job, shedding light on what he believes to be the catalyst for his dismissal by his boss

According to Somto, the incident unfolded on a particular day when his boss, notorious for partaking in employees’ meals, commenced tasting everyone’s food consecutively.

Not wanting his lunch to fall victim to this culinary inspection, Somto preemptively concealed his food before his boss could reach him.

Unfortunately, his boss caught wind of this maneuver and responded with a stern gaze, and just a week later, Somto found himself unemployed, terminated for not being perceived as a team player.

Elaborating on the situation, Somto conveyed, “I got fired from a workplace because I didn’t let the manager eat from my lunch. He always went around eating from everyone’s lunch, so one day, I quickly packed up all of my food before he got to me. He gave me a long, angry stare. I was fired the following week.”

In a subsequent post, when questioned about the reason for his termination, Somto succinctly responded, “I wasn’t a team player.”
