Former President Muhammadu Buhari (aged 82) was laid to rest on Tuesday, July 15, in the courtyard of his private residence in Daura in Katsina State.
The casket, draped in Nigeria’s green‑white‑green flag, was lowered under the shade of trees where he often convened. The ceremony followed both state and Islamic rites, featuring a military parade and 21‑gun salute.
President Bola Tinubu, Vice President Kashim Shettima, former Vice Presidents Yemi Osinbajo and Atiku Abubakar, and a host of regional and international dignitaries—including leaders from Niger and Guinea‑Bissau—were in attendance.
