A new video showing President Bola Tinubu’s son, Seyi Tinubu, moving with a sizeable security convoy has surfaced online, igniting intense discussions across social media.

The clip began trending shortly after Nobel Laureate Professor Wole Soyinka publicly criticised what he called the excessive deployment of security personnel attached to the president’s son.

Speaking at the 20th Wole Soyinka Centre for Investigative Journalism Awards in Lagos, Soyinka recalled witnessing an unusually large number of armed officers escorting Seyi Tinubu at a hotel in Ikoyi. He described the scene as disturbing and unnecessary.

Soyinka went further, suggesting that the level of security assigned to Seyi Tinubu was sufficient to put down a coup in a neighbouring country — a remark that has now gone viral.

“President Tinubu didn’t have to send the Air Force and Military to stop the coup in Benin, he should have sent his son, Seyi Tinubu instead,” Soyinka said, warning: “Let’s not overdo things.”

Hours later, Instagram blog @goldmyne shared a rare video of Seyi Tinubu and his convoy, drawing a flood of reactions.

As expected, the clip stirred mixed opinions online. Some argued that the security escort was excessive, while others defended the president’s son.
