Arise TV journalist Rufai Oseni has stirred widespread reactions after weighing in on the controversy surrounding the number of security personnel reportedly assigned to President Bola Tinubu’s son, Seyi Tinubu.

Speaking on Arise TV’s The Morning Show alongside Reuben Abati, Ojy Okpe, and another co-host, Oseni addressed recent comments by Nobel Laureate Prof. Wole Soyinka, who criticised the size of Seyi Tinubu’s convoy as excessive for a private citizen.

Soyinka, in a viral video, said the armed security detail he saw around Seyi Tinubu in Ikoyi was enough to quell an uprising in neighbouring Benin Republic.

During the discussion, Oseni asserted that no authority — not even Inspector General of Police Kayode Egbetokun — could reduce the security attached to the president’s son. He went further, adding in pidgin: “Them no born him papa well.”

Oseni also praised Seyi Tinubu, jokingly referring to him as a future governor of Lagos State. Speaking in Yoruba, he said:

“Okanlomo, ogo Eko, gomina lola, Seyi Tinubu… it is Dr. Abati that knows your worth.”
