Youth Minister Ayodele Olawande says Tinubu’s reforms will soon make Nigeria attractive for returnees, as government focuses on youth inclusion and skills development.

Minister of Youth Development, Ayodele Olawande, says ongoing reforms under President Bola Tinubu’s administration will soon make Nigeria attractive enough for citizens living abroad to return.

Speaking to journalists during the coronation anniversary of Aladetoyinbo Aladelusi, the Deji of Akure, over the weekend, Olawande said the federal government is implementing deliberate strategies to reconnect young Nigerians with governance and rebuild national trust.

“Everything the president is doing now is for the future. And I promise you, in the near future, everybody will prefer to come and stay in Nigeria than remain abroad because the country is being stabilised,” he said.

Olawande acknowledged that many Nigerian youths have long felt disconnected from leadership, but assured that the government is working to close that gap through policy reforms and youth-centered programs.

“Youths have not been able to see, touch, or feel the government. But now, we are putting all structures together—skills, education, partnerships—to bring them back into the fold,” he added.

The minister emphasized the government’s focus on productivity and employability, urging every Nigerian to acquire at least two skills to thrive in today’s evolving economy.

“In Nigeria today, we are building toward a system where one Nigerian should have two skills. That way, whether you are in school or out of school, you are employable or can employ others.”

Olawande also spoke on his recent diplomatic mission to the United Arab Emirates (UAE), where he engaged in discussions on youth development and global collaboration. He described the visit as historic and reflective of international confidence in Nigeria’s youth policies.
