Nigerian football legend and Super Falcons star, Asisat Oshoala, has announced her retirement from international football following Nigeria’s victorious campaign at the 2024/25 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) – their historic 10th title win.
Oshoala, 30, made the announcement via her official Facebook page, describing it as a “legendary exit” and a heartfelt decision to make room for rising talents in Nigerian and African football.

“At 30, with six African Women’s Best Player awards, I will bow out to start a new chapter after WAFCON 2024/25,” she wrote.
“Thank you for your unwavering support. I’m forever grateful for the love and sacrifices shared with me through this journey.”

Capping her international career with yet another continental title, Oshoala exits as the most decorated female footballer in African history – a player whose name has become synonymous with excellence, dominance, and inspiration.
