Omobayo Godwins assumes office as Edo new deputy governor after the impeachment of Philip Shaibu.

With a background in engineering and political engagement, Godwins brings a blend of technical expertise and administrative acumen to his new role, signaling a fresh chapter in Edo’s governance.

Shortly after the impeachment of Comrade Philip Shaibu as deputy governor of Edo State by the State House of Assembly, 38-year-old Omobayo Godwins has taken the oath of office as his replacement.

The impeachment stemmed from allegations of misconduct against Shaibu, as reported by VerseNews.

Omobayo Godwins, a native of the Akoko Edo local government area of Edo State, was confirmed as the deputy governor-designate by the State House of Assembly.

His swearing-in ceremony, held at the Government House in Benin City, was attended by supporters, government officials, and politicians.

Engr. Omobayo Godwins, born on July 19, 1986, holds a Bachelor of Engineering (B.Eng) Degree in Electrical and Electronics Engineering and a Master’s Degree in Public Administration from the University of Benin (UNIBEN). His professional journey, coupled with his political endeavors, has positioned him uniquely for this role.

As a registered member of the Nigerian Society of Engineers (NSE) and the Council for the Regulation of Engineering in Nigeria (COREN), Omobayo’s engineering expertise is widely recognized.

His tenure at Dresser Wayne West Africa Limited as a Senior Maintenance Engineer has been marked by significant contributions to the company’s operations and growth in the South-South region.

Beyond his professional achievements, Omobayo’s political engagement in his local government showcases his ability to unite and mobilize communities towards common goals.

He expressed his commitment to leveraging his engineering background and administrative experience for the advancement of Edo State, envisioning a technologically advanced and administratively efficient state.

Omobayo Godwins’ transition from the engineering sector to the deputy governorship epitomizes a blend of technical prowess and political astuteness, heralding a new era of leadership in Edo State.
