The new NEC immediately assumed office following the handover from the outgoing executive led by Ralph Nwosu.

According to the party, the leadership overhaul is part of its strategy to reposition itself as a formidable opposition force ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The ADC is also aligning with a broader coalition of opposition parties aiming to challenge the All Progressives Congress (APC) and President Bola Tinubu in the next election cycle.
