The 34th edition of the Africa Cup of Nations is gradually reaching its peak as the Super Eagles of Nigeria square off with old rivals, the Bafana Bafana of South Africa in the semi-final today, Wednesday, February 7, 2023.

Nigeria has made it this far in the tournament after defeating the Palancas Negras of Angola 1-0 last Friday to secure a spot in the semifinals, courtesy of Ademola Lookman’s 46th-minute goal.

Prior to the Eagles’ victory over Angola, the West African football powerhouse once again demonstrated its ability to face any team on the continent by defeating the Indomitable Lions of Cameroon 2-0. Once again, it was Atalanta’s forward, Lookman, who was the star player.

Another opportunity presents itself as they face rivals, South Africa.

In their own capacity, South Africa has been outstanding following their 2-1 victory over Cape Verde on penalties. Their biggest win in this tournament was a 4-0 victory over Namibia in the group stage.
