Alex Otti Appoints Okonjo-Iweala, Arunma Oteh. Sanusi, 15 Others As Abia Global Economic Team

The governor of Abia State, Alex Otti today announced the appointment of Dr. Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, Ms. Arunma Oteh and His Highness Khaleefa Muhammad Sanusi ll as members of a nineteenth man Abia State Global Economic Advisory (AGEAC) of the state.
VerseNews reports that Otti, in a press released and signed by his Chief Press Secretary, Kazie Uko said the decision was part of his administration’s strategic plan to ensure the overall economic development of the state.
He also explained that the constitution of the economic advisory council was aimed at building Abia into a self-sustaining economic hub.
Those appointed are Arunma Oteh, Co-Chairman, former Emir of Kano, Muhammad Sanusi II, Co-Chairman and Bolaji Balogun who would also serve as a Co-Chairman.
The members of the Council, according to the state government are Victor Onyenkpa, Ifueko Omoigui Okauru, Mr. Chidi Ajaegbu, Mr. Uche Orji, Ndidi Nwuneli, Mr. Chika Nwobi and Olugbenga Adesida.
Other members are Prof. Ndubuisi Ekekwe, Mazi Clement Owunna, Dr Uzodinma Iweala, Ezinwa Okoroafor, Mr. George Agu, Mazi Uzo Nwankwo and Mr Chinedu Azodoh.
The rest are former Nigerian Minister of Finance, Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala and Benedict Oramah who would serve as honorary advisers to the economic council.
Also, five members, drawn from the Abia State Executive Council, including Governor Alex Otti; Attorney-General and Commissioner for Justice, Ikechukwu Uwanna; Commissioner for Budget and Planning, Mr. Kingsley Anosike, Commissioner for Finance, Mr Michael Akpara and Commissioner for Trade, Commerce and Industry, Dr. Chimezie Isaac Ukaegbu will serve in the council.
“The economy of Abia State had suffered neglect and became fragile due to untold economic sabotage, over the years and from the wreckage of over the last two decades” it said.
The release added that newly appointed members bring a wealth of experience and expertise in various sectors to enhance the diversity and dynamism of the AGEAC.
