- President Bola Tinubu and Abia Governor Alex Otti met in Abuja on Tuesday to advance ongoing efforts aimed at securing the release of detained IPOB leader, Nnamdi Kanu.

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on Tuesday held a closed-door meeting with Abia State Governor Alex Otti at the Presidential Villa, Abuja, as momentum builds around efforts to secure the release of Nnamdi Kanu, the detained leader of the proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB).
The meeting comes just days after Governor Otti visited Kanu at the Sokoto Correctional Centre, where the separatist leader is currently serving his sentence. Otti was accompanied on that visit by Kanu’s younger brother, Emmanuel Kanu; Abia State Attorney General, Ikechukwu Uwanna (SAN); his media aide, Ferdinand Ekeoma; and representatives of the Sokoto State Government.
Governor Otti had earlier reaffirmed that securing Kanu’s freedom remains a top priority for his administration, noting that a coordinated strategy is already underway.

“While Mazi Nnamdi Kanu retains the right to appeal his conviction, I want to assure that I have activated and will persist with the agreed strategy until his freedom is achieved,” Otti stated through his media team.
Tuesday’s meeting with President Tinubu is widely seen as the next phase of Otti’s push for a political and legal resolution to Kanu’s prolonged detention.
