- World-renowned boxer Anthony Joshua has been hospitalised following a road accident involving his convoy along the Lagos–Ibadan Expressway in Ogun State, with two persons confirmed dead.

World-famous British heavyweight boxer, Anthony Joshua, was involved in a fatal road accident on Monday morning in Makun, Ogun State, along the Lagos–Ibadan Expressway.
The incident reportedly occurred shortly after 11am, just before Danco Filling Station, near the Sagamu Interchange inward Ibadan axis, when the vehicle conveying the boxer collided with a stationary truck under circumstances that are still being investigated.
Joshua was travelling in a Lexus SUV with registration number KRD 850 HN, which formed part of a two-vehicle convoy that also included a Pajero SUV carrying his security detail.
According to an eyewitness, Adeniyi Orojo, who was at the scene, disclosed that the boxer sustained minor injuries, while two occupants of the Lexus SUV died on the spot.

According to Orojo, there were four occupants in the Lexus at the time of the crash. Joshua was seated behind the driver, with another passenger beside him, while two others occupied the front seats.
“Other eyewitnesses and I immediately began rescue efforts and flagged down vehicles to help. Officials of the Federal Road Safety Corps arrived shortly after. Sadly, the passenger beside the driver and the person seated next to Joshua did not survive,” Orojo said.

Emergency responders later evacuated the injured to a hospital, while the remains of the deceased were taken away from the scene.
Fans and supporters of the boxing star have since flooded social media with messages of concern and prayers, as investigations into the cause of the accident continue.
Efforts to reach the TRACE Commandant, Akinbiyi Babatunde, for further comments were unsuccessful. However, the Ogun State Police Command spokesperson, Oluseyi Babaseyi, later confirmed the incident, stating that two people lost their lives, while Anthony Joshua and one other victim are currently receiving treatment at an undisclosed hospital.
