Mikel Arteta and Arsenal fans have reason to feel aggrieved after the Spanish manager was snubbed for the Premier League Manager of the Month award.
Despite winning every match in October without conceding a single goal, the award went to Ruben Amorim of Manchester United — a decision that left many in North London questioning the selection criteria.
Arteta’s side enjoyed a dominant month, collecting maximum points and tightening their grip on the Premier League title race. The Basque-born coach has turned Arsenal into one of the most balanced and defensively solid teams in Europe.
However, Amorim’s revival of a struggling United side appears to have swayed the judges. The Portuguese manager also guided his team to three straight victories in October, helping lift the Red Devils out of a mid-season crisis.

The Premier League said Amorim’s turnaround at Old Trafford — both in results and morale — was seen as the standout achievement of the month.
Aston Villa’s Unai Emery and Bournemouth’s Andoni Iraola were also shortlisted. Emery won three games out of three, while Iraola recorded two wins and one draw.
The award is determined by a combination of fan votes and a panel of football experts, meaning public perception and narrative often influence the final outcome as much as on-pitch results.
Still, Arsenal supporters have taken to social media to express disappointment, insisting Arteta’s perfect defensive record in October should have earned him the accolade.
“How do you win every game and concede zero goals, yet still lose the award?” one fan wrote on X (formerly Twitter).

Arteta, who remains focused on the bigger prize — the Premier League title — is yet to comment publicly on the snub. But inside the Emirates, few doubt his credentials as one of the most consistent managers in England this season.
