Suspected terrorists have abducted at least five female students from a federal university hostel in Dutsin-Ma, Katsina State, in the North-West region of Nigeria.
According to reports, VerseNews gathered that the victims’ kidnapping took place at the home they lived in on Tsaskiya Road, which was behind Mariamoh Ajiri Memorial International School.
The students were taken in the early hours of Wednesday at around 2:30 a.m., an eyewitness told VerseNews over the phone.
“The terrorists invaded the students’ residential quarters which is located behind Mariamoh Ajiri International School in the early hours of today, resulting in the hoodlums abducting five female students of the University,” he said.
When reached by phone, ASP Abubakar Sadiq, the police spokesman, also confirmed the incident.
One suspect had been detained in relation to the incident, he said, adding that further investigation was being conducted in an effort to free the victims of the kidnapping from the thugs’ control.
“Yes, it is true, the incident has taken place but we have already arrested one suspect for now in connection with the incident and we are investigating the incident to unravel the circumstances surrounding it please,” Aliyu added.
