Amid corruption allegations, APC’s National Chairman, Abdullahi Ganduje, faces suspension by his ward in Kano State following a viral bribery video.
The pending Kano High Court trial involves charges of bribery and misappropriation, with Ganduje and seven others set to appear before Justice Usman Na’aba.
Members of Ganduje Ward in Kano State’s Dawakin Tofa Local Government Area have suspended Abdullahi Ganduje, the National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), citing unresolved corruption allegations.
VerseNews reports that the Executive Council of Ganduje Ward, led by Haruna Gwanjo, announced the suspension during a press briefing in Kano, emphasizing the need for Ganduje to address the longstanding dollar bribery case.
The suspension follows a viral video from 2017 allegedly showing Ganduje receiving bundles of dollars as bribes from a contractor and stuffing them into his attire, which sparked widespread scrutiny.
Despite Ganduje’s denial and insistence on innocence, Governor Abba Yusuf’s administration of the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP) revived the case, leading to an impending arraignment in the Kano High Court on charges including bribery, diversion, and misappropriation of funds, amounting to $413,000 and N1.38bn.
The State Attorney General, Haruna Dederi, announced that Ganduje, his wife, and six others would face trial, with the Yusuf administration preparing 15 witnesses to testify before Justice Usman Na’aba.
