BREAKING: Appeal Court Sacks Zamfara Governor, Orders Rerun
the three-member panel nullified the return of Governor Dauda Lawal
The Court of Appeal in Abuja declared the Zamfara State governorship election held on March 18 as inconclusive.
VerseNews reports that the three-member panel nullified the return of Governor Dauda Lawal of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) as the winner and ordered a fresh election in three Local Government Areas (LGAs) where elections had not been held or results were not counted.
The affected LGAs are Maradun, Birnin-Magaji, and Bukkuyum.
The court held that INEC was wrong to rely on information from its Result Viewing (IReV) portal for collating the final result, responding to an appeal by Bello Matawalle, the immediate past governor and APC candidate in the election.
