VerseNews Nigeria earlier reported that Whitney took her last breath during the school’s inter-house event.
Following the uncertainties surrounding her death, an autopsy test was carried out by the Lagos State University Teaching Hospital (LASUTH) on February 15, 2022.
The autopsy report, dated March 1, revealed the cause of death as asphyxia and electrocution.
However, the Commissioner for Education, Mrs Folashade Adefisayo in a statement said the continued closure of the school, was to further investigate alleged endangerment of students and others.

“The closure of the school paved the way for unhindered investigation and afforded all stakeholders, including parents, students, staff and friends of the deceased, time to grief,” she stated.
She reassured that anyone found culpable in the death of Whitney would be made to face the law.
The commissioner stated also that there is an ongoing investigation at Agege Stadium, Lagos, and venue of the inter-house sports competition by the government agencies.
