BREAKING: Court Affirms Izunaso Winner Of Imo West Election
According to Barrister Okafor, all documents by Ahize and LP could not be substantiated hence their case was dismissed.
The National Assembly Election Petition of Imo State holden in High Court Premises, Marraba Nassarawa State, has declared Senator Osita Izunaso of the All Progressives Congress (APC) the duly elected senator for Imo West (Orlu Zone).
VerseNews reports that in the judgment delivered on Monday, September 4, 2023, the court ruled that all the evidence presented by Charles Ahize and the Labour Party (LP) lacked merit and therefore cannot be considered as evidence.
In a statement issued by Barr Eze Okafor, Head, Legal to Senator Izunaso sent to Overtnews, the allegation made by Ahize and his party, Labour that the results were conjured in favour of izunaso was dismissed by the court.
According to Barrister Okafor, all documents by Ahize and LP could not be substantiated hence their case was dismissed.
Dr Nelson Ezerioha was the counsel for Ahize and LP, Chief Eze Okafor for Sen Izunaso, N. Epele for APC, while counsel for the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) failed to show up.
