An Oyo State High Court in Ogbomoso has nullified the selection and coronation of Oba Ghandi Olaoye as the new Soun of Ogbomoso, stating that the selection process was not followed correctly.
VerseNews reports that the court ordered the state government to conduct a fresh process to select and install the new Soun.
The ruling came as a result of a suit filed by one of the contestants for the throne, Kabir Laoye, who had challenged Olaoye’s eligibility for the position.
Olaoye had been announced as the new Soun and installed on September 8, 2023.
As a result of this ruling, a new selection process will take place to choose the monarch for Ogbomoso.
