Extra Public Holiday

The Federal Government of Nigeria has declared an Extra Public Holiday for the Eid-El-Fitr celebration, scheduled for April 11th, 2024, extending festive observances amidst differing moon sighting reports.

This decision, aimed at accommodating diverse religious practices, underscores the government’s commitment to inclusivity and citizens’ well-being.

In a recent announcement, the Federal Government of Nigeria has designated Thursday, April 11th, 2024, as an additional public holiday in honor of this year’s Eid-El-Fitr festivities.

VerseNews reports that this decision, conveyed by Permanent Secretary Aishetu Gogo Ndayako on behalf of Minister of Interior Olubunmi Tunji Ojo, reflects the government’s commitment to fostering religious inclusivity and ensuring the well-being of all citizens.

The statement underscores President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s dedication to creating a secure and prosperous Nigeria, as he extends congratulations to the Muslim Ummah for completing a month of spiritual reflection and renewal.

This move follows earlier declarations of public holidays on April 9th and 10th to commemorate Eid-el-Fitr, as announced by Minister Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo.

Despite discrepancies in moon sighting, with Sultan of Sokoto Saad Abubakar declaring the celebration for April 10th, the Federal Government’s decision to designate April 11th as an additional holiday reflects its commitment to accommodating diverse religious practices nationwide.
