  • Justice James Omotosho has ruled that the judgment in Nnamdi Kanu’s trial will proceed in his absence after the IPOB leader was removed from the courtroom for alleged unruly behaviour.

Justice James Omotosho of the Federal High Court, Abuja, has declared that the judgment in the trial of the self-acclaimed leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Nnamdi Kanu, will be delivered without the defendant present in court.

The decision followed Kanu’s alleged unruly behaviour during Thursday’s resumed proceedings.

As Justice Omotosho prepared to deliver the ruling earlier scheduled for Thursday, November 20, Kanu objected, insisting that the court could not move forward because he had not filed his final written address.

Raising his voice, he accused the judge of bias and claimed that the court “did not know the law.”

His conduct prompted the judge to order his removal from the courtroom. Kanu was escorted out, after which the judge proceeded to deliver the final judgment in his absence.

Earlier in the session, Justice Omotosho had dismissed three fresh motions filed by Kanu, describing them as unmeritorious and noting that they came after the case had already been adjourned for judgment.
