BREAKING: Mr Ibu’s Family Announces Date, Burial Arrangements For Late Nollywood Legend

Mr Ibu’s family announced that his burial will take place on June 28 in his hometown of Amuri, Enugu State.

The five-day ceremony includes a novelty match, a candlelight procession, and a Christian Wake-Keep. The family honors his legacy of love, laughter, and liveliness.

The family of the late Nollywood legend John Ikechukwu Okafor, popularly known as Mr. Ibu, has set June 28 as the date for his burial in his hometown of Amuri, Nkanu West Local Government Area, Enugu State.

VerseNews reports that the mr Ibu’s family made the announcement in a statement jointly signed by his elder brother Elder Sunday Okafor and his immediate family.

The statement highlighted the actor’s significant contributions to Enugu State, Nigeria, and Africa as a whole.

“The Okafor family in Eziokwe Amuri, Nkanu West LGA in Enugu State wishes to honour the loving memory of our hero and a legend John Ikechukwu Okafor, who even in death has left a legacy of love, laughter, and liveliness,” the statement read.

The burial ceremony will commence on Tuesday, June 25, with a novelty match, followed by Mr. Ibu’s Night on June 26, featuring a candlelight procession and live entertainment.

On June 27, there will be a Christian Wake-Keep at his compound in Eziokwe Amuri, while the funeral service is set for June 28. The five-day burial event will conclude with a Church Thanksgiving on Sunday, June 30.

The burial committee will be chaired by Hon. Monday Diamond Ani, who described Mr. Ibu as a hero and confirmed that he would be buried as such.

Members of the committee include prominent figures such as Dame Ugochi Madueke, Hon. Commissioner for Culture and Tourism Enugu State.

Other notable individuals from the entertainment industry and beyond include; Mr Emeka Rollas, National President Actors Guild of Nigeria (Member); Nkem Owoh (Member); Patience Ozokwor(Member); Steve Ebo “Ajibo” (Member); Chukwuma Ephraim Okenwa (Member); Brown Eneh, Enugu State Chairman AGN (Member); AB Cowboy, Christiana Ozioma Ejioofor (Secretary); Chief Frank Obasi “Toscana Hotel” (Member); Chief Alexander Nwokeabia “Ejiamatu” (Member); Chief John Onwubuya (Member); Fred Bright (Member), St Mathew Aniemeka (Member) and host of others.
