The Labour Party (LP) presidential candidate, Peter Obi, has officially begun his legal process to reclaim what he called ‘the people’s mandate’ following the outcome of the 2023 presidential election held on Saturday February 25, 2023.
VerseNews Nigeria reports that the Party’s Chief Spokesperson of the Presidential Campaign Council (PCC), Dr Yunusa Tanko on Tuesday, March 2023 announced that a petition has been filed to the Presidential Elections Tribunal (PET) at the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Abuja.
The former governor of Anambra State earlier stated in an interview that he will challenge the electoral process of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) that gave Asiwaju Bola Tinubu of the ruling All Progressive Congress (APC) victory in the presidential election.

This Online News Media reported that the presidential election was flawed by election violence, intimidation and voters suppression in many states.
The results where manually collated instead of being transmitted from the polling units through the Bimodal Voters Accreditation System (BVAS) as earlier stated by INEC Chairman, Professor Mahmood Yakubu.
Obi argued that the electoral process lacks credibility, transparency and contradicts the INEC rules and regulations as stated in the Electoral Act 2022.
