Private Jet With VIPs Onboard Overshoots Runway In Ibadan
A private jet, with 10 persons onboard, including Very Important Personalities (VIPs), crash-landed at the Samuel Ladoke Akintola Airport in Ibadan, Oyo State, Nigeria.
VerseNews reports that the incident occurred around 11 am on Friday, and the jet, with registration number N580KR, overshot the runway into the nearby bush.
Firefighters and rescue officials from the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) were immediately deployed to the scene, and there were no reported deaths or casualties.
The jet was reported to have come from Abuja, and while it landed safely, it overshot the runway during the landing.
“It was a private plane from Abuja. It landed safely but overshot the runway. There was no casualty,” a spokesperson for the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority, NCAA, Carol Adekotujo, told Channels.
In a similar incident in November, the Minister of Power, Adebayo Adelabu, escaped death when a plane he was on board crash-landed at the same airport.
