Gunmen have abducted at least six passengers travelling along the Ogobia–Adoka road in Otukpo Local Government Area of Benue State.
Residents said the attack occurred over the weekend when the armed men intercepted a commercial vehicle and dragged the occupants away. As of the time of filing this report, the whereabouts of the kidnapped passengers remain unknown.

Local sources alleged that the driver may have been killed after the gunmen forced the vehicle off the road and into a nearby bush. The attackers reportedly seized the passengers after the vehicle came to a halt.

Confirming the incident, the Chairman of Otukpo LGA, Alfred Omakwu, said the attack happened two days ago. He explained that authorities have yet to determine the exact number of victims, as the number of passengers aboard the vehicle is unknown.

“But we assumed that given the capacity of the vehicle, six persons could have been involved and taken away by the abductors. As at now, I don’t have any information whether they have been released or not. There are, however, speculations that the abductors have opened talks with the victims’ families,” he said.
When contacted, the Police Public Relations Officer for the Benue State Command, DSP Edet Udeme, said she would provide details later.
