A BRT bus with registration no 04A- 48LA conveying staff of Lagos State Government have been crushed by a train at Adekunle Fajuyi Way Ikeja, Lagos State.

VerseNews Nigeria reports that the accident happened around 7:am on Thursday March 9, 2023.

Our News Media gathered that the BRT was crushed by the train in attempt to cross the rail that links Ikeja GRA.

Further Investigation revealed that the immediate cause of the incident was due to reckless driving on the part of the BRT bus driver while trying to beat the train traffic signal before the moving train rammed into the BRT bus.

According to an eye witness who spoke to this Online News Media, the Lagos state workers in the BRT bus begged the driver to wait but he ignored their plead.

“I don’t know the right words to use, Lagos state workers begged him to wait but he refused. this is so bad, such an unavoidabe accident,” she said.

Another eyewitness who confirmed the accident to us said; “The passengers on the bus asked him to cross the railway till the train passes, other buses waited but the driver did not want to wait so he drove across the railway but didn’t pass quickly then the train hits them”

According to the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), 2 Adults has been confirmed dead and about 85 passengers injured are being rushed to hospital for treatment.
