The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has declared Sim Fubara, the anointed candidate of Governor Nyesom Wike of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), the winner of the governorship election in Rivers State held on Saturday March 18, 2023.
VersNews Nigeria reports that the INEC Returning Officer, Prof. Akpofure Rim-Rukeh announced the result after Sim won in the 23 Local Government Areas of the state.

According to the announced result, the PDP flagbearer a polled a total of 302,614 votes to defeat his closet opponent l Tonye Cole of the All Progressives Congress who scored 95,274 votes.
Beatrice Itubo of the Labour Party (LP) came third with a total of 22,224 votes.
“I, Professor Akpofura Rim-rukehm Vice Chancellor, Federal University of Petroleum Resources hereby declare the results of the 2023 governorship election held on the 18th of March, 2023,” Prof Rukeh declared.
