Coup: Congolese Govt Speaks On Attempt To Overthrow President Nguesso
President Nguesso has been in power for 38 years…
The Congolese government on Sunday in reaction to unconfirmed reports that there was an attempt overthrow President Denis Sassou-Nguesso.
VerseNews reports that a government official, Congo’s Minister of Information Thierry Moungalla in a post on his X, formerly known as Twitter, denied the reports calling it a fake news.
President Nguesso has been in power for 38 years.
He came on board in 1979 to 1992, then returned in 1997 after the civil war in the Central African country.

“URGENT – Fanciful information suggests serious events that are underway at #Brazzaville,” he wrote on the social media platform with the statement also posted on the government’s website.
“The Government denies this fake news. We reassure public opinion about the calm that reigns and invite people to calmly go about their activities,” the minister tweeted.
The rumor attempt comes less than two months after the continent witnessed two successful coups in Niger Republic and Gabon.
