Details Emerge As Wike Leads G-5 PDP Governors To Tinubu For Consideration
It was learned that the meeting with the president was preceded by a meeting held at Wike’s residence in Abuja.
Late on Tuesday, President Bola Tinubu met with the G-5 governors of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) led by Nysome Wike at the Presidential Villa in Abuja.
VerseNews reports that the group included four former governors and one current governor.
It was learned that the meeting with the president was preceded by a meeting held at Wike’s residence in Abuja.
Although, details of the meeting was not revealed late Tuesday but it was understood that the president’s working relationship with the former governors was on the agenda.
A source privy to the meeting who pleaded anonymity because he was not authorized to speak on the issue said, “The G-5 PDP Governors first met in Wike’s residence for a few hours before heading to the Villa to meet with the president.
“Exact details of what was discussed isn’t available to me at the moment, but from discussions held during the initial meeting at Wike’s residence, it was all about finding accommodation for the former governors in the scheme of things and of course, how they can work together.”
The former governors were meeting with President Tinubu just 24 hours before the Imo State PDP governorship campaign kicked off in Owerri, and the source pointed out that this was instructive given the mounting tension regarding who should hold the position of party secretary.
Former Governors Samuel Ortom of Benue State, Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi of Enugu State, Nyesom Wike of Rivers State, Okezie Ikpeazu of Abia State, and Seyi Makinde of Oyo State, who is currently serving as governor, were present at the meeting.
