According to reports, the Lagos State Governorship and House of Assembly elections held on Saturday, March 2023 was dorminated by election violence, snatching of boxes and voters supressions thugs.

VerseNews Nigeria observed that many Lagosians and voters were disfranchised following the attacks by thugs suspected to be members of the ruling All progressives Congress (APC).

Many people where injured, hospitalized and lost their lives during the election process.

Despite the attacks and voters suppression in the state, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) went ahead and declared the incumbent Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu the winner of the election.

According to the result announced, Sanwo-Olu polled a total of 762,134 votes to defeat Gbadebo Rhodes-Vivour of the Labour Party and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Abdul-Azeez Adediran better known as Jandor.

However, GRV had described the election process as a sham and vowed to fight back to defend the votes by his supporters.
