Operatives of the Department of State Security (DSS) in Ogun State have arrested Hon. Damilare Bello Mohammed, a serving member of the State House of Assembly, for his alleged involvement in rival secret cult clashes that resulted in eight deaths in Sagamu town.
VerseNews reports that Hon. Damilare Bello Mohammed, who represents Sagamu State Constituency 1 under the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), was apprehended alongside five other suspected cultists linked to the violence.
The other suspects arrested by the DSS include Debbo Animashaun, Bamidele Saheed, Ismaila Onitire, Adewale Otesanya, and Tobi Owoade.
The arrests were made following a tip-off, and a sting operation took place within the lawmaker’s official residence.
The DSS had been tracking the suspects since Wednesday and alleged that the lawmaker was providing shelter to the cultists.
A statement from the Chief Press Secretary (CPS) to Governor Dapo Abiodun, ‘Lekan Adeniran, revealed that the suspects are currently undergoing interrogation in DSS custody after dangerous weapons, including guns, were seized from them.
